"The secret of life, then, is not just to live, but above all to love, to gaze at 'a particle in the dawn like a timid nightingale' (Solni cvet [Fleur de Sel]) and to sink into 'the word day, (which is) the source beneath the crust of stars' (Besede z otroške risbe [Words from a Child's Drawing]). It is precisely the latter that fills the atmosphere of this collection, in which, despite the high day, evening is noticeably falling, and the feeling of aging and transience 'like death's scythe / whistles and disappears again / dewy, rested' (Zamah [Swing]).
