The book is a theoretical, critical and biographical work. The authors provide a close and unusual reading of Gržinić & Šmid's video art, discussing the role of video as an artistic and political medium, the history and present of video art in Slovenia, embedded in a broader artistic, cultural, social and political context. Aina Šmid and Marina Gržinić have been making artistic video for more than two decades. They have received more than ten international prizes and a number of awards for their work. Their international career began with their video Moments of Decision (1985), which gave a new reading to the 1955 film of the same name by František Čap, which was neglected in the 1960s and 1970s for its radical political and aesthetic exposition of the themes of collaboration during the Second World War, the issue of the Home Guard, Catholicism, and reconciliation.
