Every little inconvenience, in the press, on TV, online or in person, must be accompanied by the remark: "This is only possible in Slovenia!" Too few open counters in the bank? Only in Slovenia! The concert started 30 minutes after the scheduled time? Only in Slovenia! Electricity has gone up in price again? Only in Slovenia! The cops are jerks? Only in Slovenia! Corruption? Only in Slovenia!
Does one's success depend solely on the size of one's ambition and work zeal? Are we Slovenians a backward nation, inherently condemned to village practices and subordination to the great? Have social networking sites become the privileged terrain of social activism?
In his debut book, Miha Blažič - N'toko attempts to break down our everyday taken-for-grantedness and helps the millennial generation of educated people, precarious workers and cynics to open up spaces of original thinking and action. Miha Blažič (born 1980 in Novo mesto), perhaps better known by his stage name N'toko, is a rapper and singer in the band Moveknowledgement. During the period of mass people's protests in 2012–2014, he also found his journalistic voice and began to use it ruthlessly, first on his blog and later as a columnist for the weekly Mladina. Samoumevni svet is his debut book.
