Erwin Blumenfeld / Photo Poche
Erwin Blumenfeld / Photo Poche
A presentation of the career of Erwin Blumenfeld whose modernist style, at the junction of fashion and art, marked the history of fashion photography. His work is discussed, from portraits made in his back room to the covers of the biggest fashion magazines and his dada photomontages.
Erwin Blumenfeld's modernist style, at the intersection of fashion and art, has radically transformed fashion photography for almost a hundred years. However, tested by the dark European history of the beginning of the 20th century, Erwin Blumenfeld only really invests photography from the age of forty. From the portraits taken in his back shop to the covers of the greatest fashion magazines, passing through his dada photomontages, his atypical career, made of incessant technical experiments, produces avant-garde and remarkably current images; preface by Emmanuelle De L'Écotais, biographical and bibliographical notices, b&w and color photos.
