This journey began almost by accident a few years ago, when the municipality of Reggio Emilia asked Cattani to read and interpret his city and he chose the theme of memory related to my city. As time went by the desire to expand this research, to create evocative images with the potential to communicate with all people through a universal language, was born.
"I still cannot explain how memory is formed during the course of our existence and I'm not sure that someone will one day be able to do so. What I do know is that for me, memory is the emotion tied to a single, special and unique instant. The moment we take a photograph we relinquish a fragment of our life. How many times have we returned to the places where we spent our life, we walked the streets, stopped for a moment and entered places solely through the power of memory; to relive the longing of what has been, the regret of the past, a faded image, only hinted at, suddenly emerging from the flipped pages of a book like confused music."
This journey goes through the places that make up our memory, places that we always keep within ourselves, roads, houses, rooms, cities, sometimes everyday objects experienced in a different way. A journey through which we store the emotions that enrich and nourish our soul, entrusting these places with our individual stories.
