Alberto García-Alix / Nomad Archive 02

This second volume of the bilingual Archivo Nómada collection contains nearly 2,500 photographs, mostly unpublished, taken by the Spanish photographer Alberto García-Alix. Black and white portraits of men, women, babies and intriguing objects reveal his surroundings and daily life with a poetic, raw honesty. This period (1982–1986) also captures the era’s political, social, and cultural upheaval in Spain, such as the end of the Transition and La Movida. Meanwhile it corresponds to the beginning of his professionalization as a photographer, in which he began to use the medium format, one of the most characteristic features of his work.
