The catalogue Slovenian Punk and Photography was published on the occasion of a survey exhibition that links photography with various aspects of the Slovenian punk movement from 1977 to the mid-1980s, as well as the pre-punk and post-punk periods. The exhibition therefore also covers Ljubljana's subcultural and alternative scene in the 1980s, with a focus on the emergence of the LGBT+ community in the 1980s, with Laibach and other bold and subversive developments.

Photography of the period became an important expression of the punk ethos, conveying messages on social and political issues and visually reflecting the spirit of the times. The Slovenian punk scene was known for its independence and critical attitude towards the political system and social norms of the time, but it was also a pro-socialist, working-class, youth and rebellious stance of the century in response to social injustice, political apathy and economic crisis. With such a charge, it also changed Slovenian photography.
